Hamden Rehabilitation & Health Care Center is a 153-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility situated in Hamden, Connecticut. We specialize in short- and long-term care, and have a secure memory care unit. We are located right in the heart of New Haven County, in close proximity to Yale New Haven Hospitals, yet conveniently only seconds from route 10, which runs throughout New Haven County.
The CNA must hold a current Certified Nursing Assistant License
The CNA must be a compassionate and caring team player.
The Certified Nursing Assistant/ CNA will work directly under the supervision of a licensed nurse and will have direct contact with individual residents, providing direct resident care.
Resident Care Responsibilities for a Certified Nursing Assistant include, but are not limited to the following:
- The CNA serves meals: resident feeding responsibilities. Some residents will require direct feeding, while others may just need their meal tray brought to them and set up.
- The CNA will provide oral care, nail care, and basic hygiene.
- The CNA will bathe and dress resident.
- The CNA will toilet the resident.
- The CNA will assist with ambulation, some residents may need help getting in and out of beds, wheelchairs, bathtubs, etc.
- The CNA will take vital signs: blood pressure, pulse, and temperature monitoring.
- The CNA answers call lights in a timely manner.
- Repositioning of residents.
- The CNA changes bedding and collects soiled laundry.
- The CNA is responsible for light cleaning and organizing of resident's room or area.
- The CNA is responsible for relaying and charting requested information. This may include moods, vital signs, meal consumption, liquid intake, and daily output.
- The CNA is responsible for relaying information to the next shift at shift change.
Qualifications Required for a CNA Position:
- The Certified Nursing Assistant must have completed a Connecticut approved CNA certification training course
- The Certified Nursing Assistant must have a State of Connecticut CNA Certificate
- The Certified Nursing Assistant must have basic computer skills
- The Certified Nursing Assistant must have the ability to work as part of a team and to handle multiple tasks safely and effectively
- The Certified Nursing Assistant must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate sensitive information
- The Certified Nursing Assistant must be courteous and professional with an exceptional "bedside manner"
- The Certified Nursing Assistant must have high tolerance for working under pressure and handling critical situations
